Hand Cane Chair
Dayna and Nancy wanted a challenge, but could not find a project chair. We located one for them to work on while they continued to search for one. So, they decided to work on one together for the class. Here is their Hand Cane Chair project.

A wonderful Charles Eastlake style chair in need of hand caning. Minor repair will be needed. |
Teamwork by Dayna and Nancy sped up the re-caning. The seat was removed, and front bar re-glued. Surface under old cane was refinished using a bees wax based paste and #1 steel wool. Tung oil helped match old surface. |

On a cool summer day, June 27, Dayna and Nancy worked outside of the Gordon House on the fourth step. Hey, what a Summer! The chair now is now ready for the final seventh step, a binder cane strip around the perimeter of the chair. They plan on returning in September to finish.
